Bennett Life

The life and times of Brian, Heather, Hannah, and Adelyn
02 September

August 2008

Okay...I thought I should add some pictures since it has only been a year!  I can't believe Adelyn will be one on Sunday!!!  Maybe it has only taken a year to feel like I have time to add pictures....hmmm...that is kinda scary!  My hope is that it won't take that long to post some more pictures!

Adelyn's First Two Weeks

New Pictures have been added, so enjoy!

These last two weeks have been, shall we say, event-filled. :)  There have been good days and bad days, but in the end I can say with certainty that the Lord has taken care of us and there have been numerous answers to prayer both big and small...even answers to prayers that we hadn't even prayed yet.  God is good, all the time, and all the time, God is good!!!

Adelyn had her first check-up with Dr. Thompson this week and she got a clean bill of health, Praise the Lord!!  Heather has been through some rough days but each day seems to be better and better, and over all she is doing well.

Adelyn Has Arrived!!

Adelyn Lee Bennett came into this world @ 8:29am on Friday, September 7th.  She weighed 7 lbs 8 ozs. and was 18.5" long.  Her hair is strawberry-blonde (like her Daddy when he was born) and her eyes are blue.  In otherwords, she is the most beautiful baby in the entire universe!!   (certainly no bias here, of course)

Both Heather and Adelyn are doing well now, however the journey hasn't been without its moments.  Heather went through a rough C-section due to the anesthetic not completely numbing the pain.  When the doctors began working on her she told them that she could feel what they were doing some what.  The choice at that point was either, be able to feel some pain and get to see Adelyn and hear her first cry right after they pull her out of the womb, or be completely knocked out with more drugs and not remember anything at all.  Heather decided to endure the pain and at least have some memory of Adelyn's birth...a choice that I don't think I could have gone with...Heather is one amazing woman!  (in case you didn't already know that)  She endured the pain long enough to see and hear Adelyn and then had the Anesthesiologist put her under.  There is no doubt in my mind that God helped her through that whole ordeal.

Adelyn came out looking good, however her oxygen level was below normal due to a big gulp of fluid that she inhaled as they were pulling her out of the womb.  When they got her into the nursery area they had to give her oxygen for about an hour.  Every time that the nurse would pull the oxygen mask off, Adelyn's oxygen level would begin to drop again.  According to the nurse they see this a lot in C-section babies since the fluid doesn't get "squeezed" out of their lungs like it does during natural birth.  Anyways, the nurse practioner that was checking Adelyn said that if her oxygen level did not improve that they would have to place her in the special needs nursery area, put an IV in her, and put an infant C-Pap machine on her for a couple of hours to see if that helped her.  If that didn't work they would have to send her to another hospital in the area for treatment.

Well, at that point I began praying and asking God to touch little Adelyn and help her oxygen level to improve quickly.  It "just so happened" that moments before they were about to make the decision to move Adelyn to the special needs nursery her oxygen level began to rise above the threshold that was needed to ensure that she would be able to breathe on her own.  Since that scare, Adelyn has been doing great!  Praise the Lord!  God still answers prayer!

Hannah is still trying to figure out what is going on.  She does come in the hospital room saying "baby??...baby??" wanting to see baby Adelyn and will give her a hug, but as soon as she does she is ready to go "ow-side" and play!  You can tell that she is thinking that the baby is surely not coming home with us.  Boy, is she up for a surprise.

Heather and I know that life as we know it has changed forever, but we won't know exactly what that means until we get the whole family home.  We are very grateful for everyone's love and support, but mostly for your prayers...they make all of the difference.

19 months old

Greetings!  Well...I figured I better get some pics on here of Hannah before her baby sister arrived in 3 1/2 weeks from now!  I can't believe it is already here!  Hannah has changed so much and is talking like crazy!  She has come a long way since saying "ishy."  Sometimes I call her my little parrot, so we have to be careful what we say!  She is a little sweetheart and is so cute (most of the time.) Open-mouthed Last week, on Brian's birthday, Hannah surprised me and told me she wanted to go potty all by herself!  I really couldn't believe that she meant it, but she DID!  She went several times this week, and she told me!  I was completely taken by surprise!  Okay...I know every parent says this....but I think she is really smart!  It will be interesting to see how she takes to being a big sister!  Something tells me she won't like it very much for awhile!  Smile

We are doing good...Brian is/has been studying for a VMware certification test that he will be taking on Friday.  So he has been busy doing that each night after Hannah goes to bed.  But he still loves his job, so that is wonderful!  I am feeling pretty good....considering I have 3 1/2 weeks left and it has been getting near or over 100 degrees the past week.  Let's just say I have reached the miserable stage and I am ready!  Tongue out

I think that pretty much sums it up for now....the next time you hear from us, we will have a new face on here!  Hard to believe!  I hope and pray everyone is doing wonderful and has had a wonderful summer!  Love to all!

One week shy of 17 months old!!

Well...here we are again!  Just wanted to update pictures of Hannah!  She is growing and changing so fast!  The last few weeks, we can hardly keep up with all the new things she is doing.  She is jabbering up a storm and saying some words.  Sometimes it sounds like she is speaking Chinese or Japanese.  It is hiliarious!   She loves to see fish...which she calls, "ishy, ishy."  The loving side of her has shown up very fast in the last few weeks and she loves to give open mouth kisses and hugs!!  That pretty much makes Mommy and Daddy's day when we are bestowed w/ hugs and kisses.  She is practicing her loving actions for when her little sister comes in September!  That will be fun and interesting!
09 April

15 months old already!!!

Greetings again!  Well...another couple of months have passed and I figured it was time to update pics!  So here they are!  I hope this finds everyone doing well!  We are doing good here!  We had a wonderful day with family and friends yesterday (Easter).  Of course, I missed my parents since they are suffering in Hawaii on a business trip! :)  However, it was a great day to celebrate the resurrection on our Lord Jesus Christ!!

Hannah is growing as fast as ever...she is now 15 months old and getting into absolutely everything!  For some reason her new hangout the last few days is in our closet.  She will take some toys in there and just sit down and play.  It's so funny!  Our house is a constant disaster...anytime I try to pick things up, she likes to come behind me and pull them right back out.  Brian is leaving this afternoon from work to drive to Dallas for the week for a training class.  So I am flying solo ( as he put it) this week.  I am doing good....feeling so much better these last couple of weeks then I have been feeling the last several months!  For those of you who didn't know....I am expecting again and due on Sept. 7th.  We find out (hopefully) what we are having next Monday the 16th!  We are so excited to know!  A little nervous but excited!

Oh...and also, Hannah has a new cousin, Logan Mark Miranda that was born on February 9th!  I can't believe my (little brother) has a baby!  :)

Well..that pretty much sums it up for now!  I pray that each and every one of you have a blessed week!

Love to all!

Wow...alot has happened!

Well, as you can imagine and can tell....it is getting harder to get things done w/ a toddler getting around the house.  That is why it has taken so long to get pictures put on here!  I can't believe it, but Hannah is starting to walk more and more each day!!!  She gets braver with every step.  She turned one a couple of weeks ago and seems to be growing all the time!  She truly has become a different child then who she was in November and December.  I am not sure if it is because she is getting older and more relaxed in a way, or she is just feeling so much better from her ear tube surgery and no teeth are currently coming in.  The last several weeks have been glorious in comparison to the last couple of months.  I hope she stays this way!!!

We have had a busy couple of months, but good ones!  We had a wonderful Christmas season, celebrated some birthdays and Brian and I celebrated our 6th year of marriage on December 30th!  We had our first night away from Hannah since was born!  She was spoiled rotten at Nana & Poppy's house, while Mommy and Daddy got to sleep through the night and GOT TO SLEEP LATER THAN 6am!!  It was so nice.  Now Mimi & Papa want her to spend the night.....well, if they insist!!! ;-P  We also just got home last week from Colorado.  Brian had a business trip that Hannah and I were able to go along for the ride.  It was fun seeing all the snow....but let's just say....we won't be traveling for awhile with a toddler where you have to stay in hotel rooms!  :)

Well...Hannah did have a wonderful birthday and she got a really cool present that she doesn't even understand yet ....and she won't until around Sept. 7.  Can't imagine what it could be.   :-P
10 November

10 Months Old

Well...another month and a half has past, and Hannah has continued to grow up!  She is attempting to crawl everywhere, and loves to cruise along the furniture now.  She also loves for us to help her to walk too!  Her last appointment (2 weeks ago) she weighed 21 pounds 1 oz and was 28" long.  She has gotten to see her doctor alot lately!!  She has had a ear infection in one or both of her ears now for 5 weeks and today she will start her 6th attempt at antibiotics.  Yesterday, we found out she was allergic to the one she was on...so now we are starting a different one!  We are just praying that it will go away, but the doctor seems to think she will probably be a candidate for tubes since she can't get over her first infection.  We will wait and see!

For Hannah's first Halloween, since she had an ear infection, we went trick or treating at the grandparent's house.  Actually, we ended up meeting my parents at the hospital when we went to see Amanda (my brother's wife), then we went to Brian's parent's house.  Hannah was sooo cute in her little chicken costume!  Then last weekend we left with Brian's parents, Robbie and Averi and Ashton to fly to Mobile, Alabama for Mammaw's 85th birthday party, which also ended up being somewhat of a Bennett family reunion.  We had a good time, but we were tired when we got home! Time has definitely flown by....can't believe Hannah will be celebrating her 1 year birthday in a little less than 2 months.
25 September

8 1/2 Months old

Well, as you can tell it is getting more and more difficult to get pictures loaded and something typed.  Let's just sum it up by saying that Hannah is sleeping a whole lot less!!!  Sometimes we miss the days that all she did was sleep and eat!  Those days are long over...but things are a lot more exciting around here nowadays.  Hannah has 2 teeth on the bottom now and loving to eat all kinds of new foods.  She is getting easily frustrated lately because she can't crawl yet (she hates to be on her belly) and she likes to stand and have us help her walk, but can't do any of it on her own.  She does have a walker that she zips across the kitchen in, but other than that she falls down alot.  We really can't leave her alone anymore, but it is so fun to watch her develop new skills every day.  She is saying "dada" ALOT and has been for awhile.  Sometimes it sounds like she is trying to say "Hi" along w/ "baba."  She will not say "mama" though.   OH well...I guess that will come in due time.

Life is pretty much the same otherwise.  Brian still loves his job and loves coming home to see Hannah at the end of the day, and I suppose me too!   I know that we both love seeing him coming home!  In a couple of weeks, he will be going to Boston for a week of training and I am NOT looking forward to that week by myself..still not sure what I am going to do.
13 July

6 months old!

Well, I decided I better go ahead and write...Brian promised he would do it this time, but it looks like it might not get done!    OH well...

June was a crazy month and I am glad it is over!  It held a lot of 1st for Hannah!  We went to a family reunion at Lake Murray and she went swimming for the first time.  Then a week and half later we left for Virginia (flying for the first time) for my cousin's wedding, which I helped coordinate and Brian sang.  Hannah did wonderful flying...but lets just say it was the trip you never want to relive.  The stay in Virginia and the wedding was nice, but the flights there and back were experiences we never want to relive.  Ever flight was delayed either while sitting in the airport or on the plane for at least 2 hours (we had 5 flights total), and we got stuck in Minneapolis on the way home because we missed our connecting flight.  Short story...on the way there we were traveling for a total of 14 hours and our luggage didn't make it with us.  On the way home, it took us 33 hours to get home with a short overnight stay in Minneapolis.  Let's just say that the Lord was taking care of Hannah because she was perfect!  People commented on it constantly!

Hannah is growing up and developing like crazy!  She finally started rolling over intentionally and is now sitting up on her own. Can't believe she is now over 6 months old!  She is so fun though!  She is definitely loved and spoiled by all her family!!
